Jet in Accelerating Turbulent Crossflow with Passive Scalar Transport

The interaction of a turbulent, spatially developing crossflow with transverse jet possesses several engineering and technological applications such as film cooling turbine blades, exhaust plumes, thrust vector control, fuel injection, etc. Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) in under different streamwise pressure gradients (zero favorable gradient) is carried out. purpose to study the physics behind transport phenomena coherent structure dynamics turbulent jets at low/high-velocity ratios (0.5 1). temperature was regarded passive scalar molecular Prandtl number 0.71. analysis performed by prescribing accurate information (instantaneous velocity temperature) inlet computational domain. upward motion low-momentum fluid created “legs” counter-rotating vortex pair (CVP) encounters downward inviscid flow coming from outside boundary layer, inducing stagnation point shear layer. This layer characterized high levels mixing, turbulence production, kinetic energy (TKE) thermal fluctuations. formation development above-mentioned are more evident higher ratios.
